You will visit the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and see the entertaining Outback Stockman’s Show. Learn about the history of the Australian national air carrier, Qantas at Qantas Founders Museum and experience the fascinating light & sound night show.

You will also witness Australia’s past at the “Australian Age of Dinosaurs” and learn about Australia’s cultural history at the Waltzing Matilda Centre.

All-inclusive, Eco Friendly. Best time to travel between April to October.

You could also arrive or depart on overnight train from/to Brisbane. Please note, the train does not operate daily and is often fully booked. Please ask more when we prepare a quote and we can check availability.

Australian Outback

Day 1 – Arrive to the Outback

Arrive at Longreach airport where your host will meet you and take you to your luxury “glamping” tent. Your tent will come with all the comforts – gorgeous ensuite, open plan layout and 5-star bedding. Early check-in is guaranteed from midday.

Mitchell Grass Retreat offers an eco-friendly, luxury glamping experience in the Queensland Outback. Located on a 60-acre property, just minutes from Longreach attractions, you’ll discover warm outback hospitality, intoxicating sunsets, and starry night skies. Slow down, gather around the fire pit, and soak in the outback landscape from your private outdoor bath.

In the late afternoon, you’ll transfer to the Light & Sound Show experience at the Qantas Founders Museum. Prepare for 20 minutes of awesomeness as you stand surrounded by historic aircraft doubling as the canvas for this amazing high-tech show. Your Mitchell Grass Retreat host will then transfer you to downtown Longreach for a delicious three-course-dinner.

Glamping, Australia

Day 2 – Life of the pioneers

Wake to a locally sourced gourmet breakfast basket (delivered to your tent) and expansive views of the Mitchell Grass Plains from your private deck.

Today you will visit the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and see the entertaining, authentic Outback Stockman’s Live Show**. You will learn about the pioneering history Australia as well today’s life in the outback.

Next, transfer the short distance to the Qantas Founders Museum for a behind-the-scenes Airpark Tour featuring the Douglas DC-3, Lockheed Super Constellation, Boeing 707, and Boeing 747 aircraft.

Late afternoon, return to Mitchell Grass Retreat for sunset canapes and drinks, ready to toast a spectacular outback sunset. Enjoy a self-cook gourmet BBQ on your private deck then gather around the fire pit for marshmallow toasting and starwatching.

**Outback Stockman’s Show does not operate on Fridays.

Day 3 – Sunset over the desert

Enjoy a relaxed morning and breakfast before checking out of your luxury glamping tent. Your host from Rangelands Outback Camp will greet you this morning for a two-hour private transfer to Winton.

The site is located atop a magnificent mesa on a working cattle property just a 15- minute drive from Winton. This luxury tented camp operates ‘off grid’ and has been purposely designed for minimum impact on the surrounding environment. Each of the six luxury tents are powered by their own solar panels with a backup generator. You will be pampered with sumptuous king-sized beds, ensuites with a view and luxury trappings.

Enjoy some free time to visit the Waltzing Matilda Centre where you can learn the story behind the Waltzing Matilda. The first museum in the world dedicated to a song. But you will learn it’s more than a song, the centre tells a story of the life in outback, the landscape, and the people.

Then take the Opal Walk, ending at the unique Royal Open Air Theatre Museum. Consider an optional town tour on a 100-year-old Landau horse-drawn carriage.

After you have checked into your super-sized luxury ensuite tent, join a guided walking tour of the ancient Rangelands Rifts.

Late afternoon, join fellow guests on the expansive Sunset Deck with panoramic views of the surrounding ‘dinosaur country.’ Indulge with cocktails and canapés before savouring a chef-prepared three-course dinner.

You will enjoy a lavish menu of chef-prepared meals, fine wines, and top- shelf spirits. The hub of the camp, ‘The Mahal’, features an expansive communal sunset viewing deck, guest dining and lounge area.

Australian Outback

Day 4 – Dinosaur Country

Start the day with an early breakfast then transfer the 15-minute-drive into downtown Winton. Join a half day tour to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs, home to the largest collection of Australian dinosaur bones in the world. Hear how dinosaur bones from 90-95 million years ago are being unearthed from what is now called ‘dinosaur country.’

The Ultimate Dinosaur Tour, delivered by passionate ‘Dino Enthusiasts’ at the Australian Age of Dinosaurs includes the working Laboratory, Collection Room, Dinosaur Canyon, and March of the Titanosaurs.

Return to Rangelands Outback Camp for free time to relax and take in the magnificent, natural environment. Tonight, gather once again on the Sunset Deck for cocktails before another magnificent chef-prepared dinner.

Day 5 – Where next?

After your gourmet breakfast, join an exclusive tour to nearby 100-year-old Oondooroo Station. Learn first-hand from local graziers about life on a working station.
